I've spent all day trying to think of a funny or witty way to start this blog, rather than saying 'Back again!' and I've got nothing! Literally no ideas at all! So this will have to do! I should write novels with my English skills!
As I can't think of anything worthwhile to say we'll just get straight into it. Friday, some of the guys from Andover College put on an open mic night as part of their course. I think it was part of their course. No I don't know what course it is either! They have told me hundreds of times at this point and I always forget. My memory is shocking. I've actually forgotten where I was going with this! Erm! Open Mic! That's what I was going to say. Yeah so loads of the local musicians turned up to play short sets in front of a room of people. You know how an open mic night works.
Of all the acts that performed I'd only not photographed 2 of them before. I think by this point I've photographed about 80% of the musicians in Andover. If I haven't photographed you yet then get in touch. See what I did there!
So what were the acts like I hear the people that weren't there saying? Overall the standard was very high. There were a few I didn't really like, one that surprised the hell out of me and one that blew me away! That person had the best voice I've heard in a long time and I'm not going to tell you who they were! Now remember this is just my opinion. I've got huge respect to anyone that is willing to get up on a stage and perform to a room full of strangers because there is no way in hell I'm doing that. Mainly because I cant sing or play an instrument or have any performing talents of any kind, baring in mind in did GCSE drama, so fuck knows where those skills have gone!
If your a performer and fancy giving open mic ago then I'm sure the Rockhouse will be putting on another one soon, just go follow them on Facebook. I'm well up for another open mic, not only do I get to hear new music and work on getting to photograph every Andover musician, but from a photography point of view there really easy to photograph! One person stood still under a light is perfect! (Insert laughing crying face emoji here, I don't know how to do it on a normal keyboard and I'm not googling it!)
Anyway I'm having a break for a week as its the bank holiday and I intend to fully enjoy the time off and relax. Ok I'll be drunk a lot of it and in the Rockhouse anyway so come and say hi, I'll have a JD and Coke please! Keep your eyes peeled on Facebook/Instagram to see what I'm up to! And remember to like, share, comment, leave a reaction, buy merch (I don't have merch), ask me for a wristband, write songs about me and my work, write things in the sky etc etc etc. I'm running out of ideas of things you guys need to do so send me suggestions!!
